Chef on the Rise - Chef Kella
Today I had the pleasure of interviewing
an up and coming Chef, and ask a few questions. Now to be totally transparent
with you she is my sister, and her food is amazing! She’s always the cook
whenever we have family functions, and people are always asking her to cook for
them when they have parties. Her name
is Kella, and she is ready to move into more of the public cooking sector. From
cooking just privately for friends, family, and co-workers, to cooking on a
more public broader scale. I couldn’t think of anyone else that I would love to
feature more than her. I did a small interview with her, and this is how it
went:
Q: When did you realize that you
had a passion for cooking?
A: I realized I had a passion for cooking in college. Being away from home
for the holidays, my friends and I decided to start holiday dinner parties.
That gave me a passion for cooking, and cooking for others.
Q: What would you say is your “Signature Dish”?
A: Cajun Shrimp Alfredo
Q: What would you say is the key to making an amazing dish?
A: The key is: LOVE! You have to
put love in your food. You have to love what you are cooking, or love the
people that you are cooking it for. Either way your heart and soul will be poured
into the food.
Q: What would you say is your signature style of cooking?
A: Seafood based dishes. You give
me seafood; I’ll give you a great meal!
Q: What is your earliest memory of a seafood dish that you have eaten,
that sparked your love for seafood?
A: As a child, for our Family Day
Picnics, my mother would make BBQ Shrimp and that when my love for seafood
started.
Q: What’s your earliest memory of you cooking one of your seafood
dishes?
A: Making Stuffed Bell Peppers at
our college holiday parties.
Q: Who gave you the recipe to cook that dish, or did you just freestyle
it?
A: My moma gave it to me.
Q: Would you say that your mother is the inspiration behind you making
these fabulous dishes?
A: Yes, my mother is the inspiration.
Growing up, she was a stay at home mom, so she would cook every night, giving us
a home cooked meal. As I grew up I would always watch her cooking, and knew I
wanted to do the same thing someday.
Q: When can the public expect to start tasting your food?
A: By April 2017
Q: Where can we find you to stay in the loop about your creations, and
your launch date for your new ventures?
A: I can be found on YouTube at
Kella Amos and on Instagram and SnapChat
@ Kella504.
Q: Can you share with us the last dish that you made, so we will know what we can look forward to
from you?
A: Sure. Yesterday, I made my rendition of a
well-known New Orleans dish “Crawfish Monica”. This is just a preview of what's to come!.
